Introduction

When Redditch Town Centre was first “modernised” it was by the local Council in the 1950s under slum clearance scheme.  The designation of Redditch in 1964 saw the need for a town centre capable of supporting the projected population of 100,000.  Rather than build a new town centre on a greenfield site they choose to re-develop the existing town centre.   Asa result, many of the old streets and the houses, shops and factories in the existing town centre were lost.

As part of our studies we have researched those lost street and identified as many as possible of the residents who once lived and worked there.

We know there are possibly other streets, other businesses and other residents we have not yet identified.  If you have any corrections or additions to this data, please get in touch.
